What is an EICR?

Also known in the industry as a electrical installation condition report, we issue these reports after we carry out a fully electrical assessment of your home, including sockets, wiring, switches and consumer unit. Typically, we check for general wear and tear and any defects to ensure installations meet the latest safety standards and regulations.

By issuing these reports we can prevent potential issues happening in your home, which helps to avoid costly repair bills in the future and protect your family from interruptions due to electrical problems e.g sudden failure.

Smaller issues such as outdated cable coating, fabric or rubber will be noted on an EICR and we often make recommendations to replace them with a more reliable product, such as PVC.

Step By Step Process

Testing on wiring and fixed electrical equipment. This should be carried out every 5 years when renting out, selling or buying the property.
Inspection of light fittings, sockets and switches.
Inspection of Wiring, usually replacing old wiring systems with more reliable PVC cables.
Provide an EICR report. Just like an MOT on your car, we will let you know if there any dangerous or major defects that need immediate attention, or if everything comes back 'satisfactory' we will issue your electrical pass certificate.
